GTA IIIStaunton Island

Two-Faced Tanner

Mission 35 of 67Story missionOptional

01/03

Briefing

One of Asuka's drivers is an undercover policeman, and his name is Tanner. He waits outside Kenji's casino in an Esperanto and is, in the game's own joke about the series it is needling, close to useless the moment he is out of a car.

Getting him out of it is the mission. It is also one of the ten GTA III will close behind the player, and the thing that closes it is a mission for a different employer entirely.

02/03

Objectives

  1. Head over to the casino
  2. Take out Tanner

Walkthrough

  1. Read the note first

Asuka is not at the condo — the briefing is a note, and it names Kenji's Casino in Torrington as where the driver sits.

  2. Ram him out of the Esperanto

Tanner will not leave the car voluntarily, so the way in is to damage it until he bails. Anything heavy does this faster than gunfire.

  3. Four stars while you finish

Killing a police officer carries a four-star wanted level on the original release and three on the mobile versions, and it arrives before Tanner is dealt with rather than after.

  4. Do this before Grand Theft Aero

Donald Love's aeroplane mission closes Asuka's strand at this point permanently. A player working towards full completion has to take Tanner first.
