How we work
Methodology and corrections · Last updated 8 October 2026
GrandTheftAuto.World is an independent reference for Grand Theft Auto players. This page explains what goes on a page and what stays off it, what our labels mean, how time-sensitive information is kept current, and how to tell us when we have something wrong.
Who runs the site
GrandTheftAuto.World is operated by IOTP (UK) Ltd. It is an independent fan platform: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, and Grand Theft Auto and its related names belong to their owners.
Every record is checked against the evidence it rests on before it is published. Records keep that evidence with them; we do not list or link sources on pages, but nothing is published without them, and a record whose evidence does not hold up is withdrawn rather than left standing.
What the labels mean
Some pages say how well established a record is. The words are these, and they always mean the same thing.
- Confirmed by the publisher
- Rockstar Games itself has stated it — in the game, on its own channels or in an official announcement.
- Not officially confirmed
- Consistent, independent evidence supports it, but no official statement does. It is published because the evidence agrees; the label is there so you know the difference.
- Disputed
- Credible evidence points in different directions, so the record cannot be stated as settled.
- Unverified
- Reported, but not yet checked well enough to rely on.
- Community reported
- On character and place records: drawn from community research rather than an official statement.
- Seen in official material
- On GTA VI facts: shown in Rockstar’s own trailers, screenshots or other material, without a written statement.
- Reported by trusted sources
- On GTA VI facts: published by reporting we treat as reliable, not by Rockstar.
Two more words appear on pages and are not labels about evidence. Not confirmed on a field — a price, a vendor, whether something can still be bought — means we do not have an answer we can stand behind, so we say so instead of guessing. Held is our internal state for a record or a figure whose evidence disagrees: a held item is simply not published until the disagreement is resolved, so you will not see it at all.
A released game’s page carries no blanket label: the game exists, and a single line could not say which of its facts it meant.
Prices and figures
A price, a payout or any other figure is published only when it is established. A figure Rockstar states is enough on its own. Otherwise it needs independent research that agrees: one source is not enough, and where sources disagree the figure is held and the field reads “Not confirmed”. When a later, dated change contradicts an older figure that everyone agreed on, the newer one wins.
We leave a figure out rather than print a likely one because a wrong price costs you real in-game money, and a blank you can see is more useful than a number you cannot trust.
GTA Online: weekly bonuses and discounts
GTA Online changes every week. Each week’s bonuses and discounts are reviewed and published as a week with a start and an end. A bonus only shows while its week is running, and it disappears when the week ends, without anyone needing to change the page.
If a week has not been reviewed yet, the pages say “not checked yet” rather than repeating last week. Everything currently running is on this week in GTA Online.
GTA VI
Before release, Grand Theft Auto VI is mostly announcements. Each fact on the GTA VI hub shows when it was last checked, and facts are re-checked against Rockstar’s own announcements when they change. Rumours are never presented as facts, and leaked material is not published, described or linked.
Official pages are watched by an automated monitor so that changes are noticed quickly; a person reviews every change before anything on this site is updated. You can read how the monitor behaves.
Pictures
Pictures show the subject as it appears in the game, or official artwork of it. Each one is checked against the record it illustrates — the right model, variant, livery and version — before it is used, and its description is written by us.
Where a page shows a picture of something else that stands for it, the caption says so: Pictured: for a building shared by several apartments, or a vehicle that is the headquarters, and Example location:for a business shown by one of its sites. Where no reliable picture exists, the page shows an empty frame marked “picture to follow” instead of a look-alike. We do not use AI-generated images or modified game models as substitutes.
Corrections
If something on a page is wrong or out of date, email iotp@iotp.net with the page’s address and what you believe is wrong. Evidence helps — for a game fact, where in the game or in which official announcement it appears.
Every report is checked against the evidence. If the page is wrong, the record is corrected, and the page shows the corrected fact; if the evidence does not settle it, the item is held or marked as not confirmed rather than changed on a single report.
