    A playable female lead

    Grand Theft Auto VI has a playable female lead.

    Rockstar's own tour of the state introduces Lucia Caminos as one of the game's two leads and refers to her throughout. The report was right — and what makes the claim confirmed is the publisher stating it, not the outlet having got there first.

    The press first reported it on 27 July 2022, seventeen months before Rockstar published anything at all about the cast.

    Material has been taken from Rockstar again

    Grand Theft Auto VI footage taken from Rockstar has been circulating online since mid-August 2026, published under the alias Cyberleek.

    Rockstar published a statement on 26 August 2026 calling the leak of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay videos heartbreaking for their team. That is the publisher describing the material as theirs, which is what the previous assessment was waiting for. Two things it does not do: it names no alias, so the attribution in this claim still rests on the reporting rather than on Rockstar; and it authenticates no individual file, so nothing about what any particular clip contains follows from it.

    The press first reported it on 21 August 2026. Take-Two had filed in court the day before to identify the person behind the alias, so the material was circulating before either date.

      Two newsrooms report it independently, and Take-Two petitioned the Southern District of New York on 20 August 2026 for subpoenas seeking to identify who is behind the alias — a publisher acting on material rather than describing it. Rockstar has made no statement, and that gap is exactly why this stops short of confirmed.

    Switching between the two leads

    The player switches freely between Jason and Lucia, as Grand Theft Auto V let a player switch between its three leads.

    An Extended Look shows the player moving between the two leads repeatedly — while they travel, mid-firefight, and when they are on different floors of a building. That settles the substance and not the wording: Rockstar demonstrated the switch without describing it, so how freely it is available, and whether a mission can withhold it, remain unstated. We publish what was shown as an observation and hold the word “freely” open.

    Not traceable to a single artefact. It is an inference from Rockstar confirming two leads, repeated widely enough that it now reads as something somebody announced.

      Rockstar has confirmed two leads and has said nothing about how a player moves between them. Everything published on switching is drawn from the fact that there are two, and an earlier game having a mechanic is not evidence that this one does. It is a reasonable guess, and it is a guess.

    Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on 26 May 2026.

    Rockstar moved the game to 19 November 2026. Nobody got this wrong: it was a plan that changed, which is why it reads as superseded and not as debunked. It is also the clearest thing on this page — an official source is the strongest evidence there is, and it is still evidence about a moment rather than a guarantee.

    Two videos is everything Rockstar has published

    Rockstar has published two videos for Grand Theft Auto VI: Trailer 1 and Trailer 2.

    Rockstar's own video index enumerated eleven distinct videos when it was read: the trailers, a cover art animation and a clip for each named character. Two is the number with a page you can watch them on, not the number published — and that difference is the whole of the mistake. Our own reveal archive made it, which is why it is recorded here rather than quietly removed.
