Salvage Yards

What the Salvage Yard is

The Salvage Yard is a vehicle scrap and parts business, trading as Red's Auto Parts. Yusuf Amir brings you in, and his cousin Jamal Amir runs the yard and its robbery planning wall for you.

It mixes active and passive money. Robberies and tow jobs are played, while the safe gathers income on its own and grows faster when the yard's reputation is high.

What you get

  • Access to the Salvage Yard Robberies, a rotating set of multi-part jobs that each end with stealing a particular car.
  • A choice, after each robbery, between shipping the car to Yusuf, breaking it down at the yard, or — in some weeks — keeping it.
  • The Tow Truck Service once a tow truck has been bought for the yard, and a safe that collects passive income.

Before you buy

What you need

  • Wait for Yusuf Amir to ring you, then buy one of the yards on Maze Bank Foreclosures. No other business is needed first.
  • The robbery planning wall only works while you are registered as a CEO, VIP or MC President.

How to start

Answer Yusuf's call, then pick a yard on Maze Bank Foreclosures. Nothing else has to be owned beforehand.

Register as a CEO, VIP or MC President before going to the planning wall, which will not open otherwise. Buying a tow truck upgrade is what opens the tow jobs.

How it runs and makes money

Each week offers a small set of target cars, each worth more than the last, and the robbery used for each changes with the week. A robbery starts with a scope-out, moves through planning work and robbery tasks that can be done in any order, with one of each optional, and ends in a finale that steals the car.

Once you have the car, you can drive it to the docks at Terminal to be shipped to Yusuf for a lump sum, or salvage it at the yard. Salvaging pays less and only pays when the work is finished, but crash damage on the drive cannot eat into it the way it eats into the shipping price.

Tow jobs start from the truck parked in the yard. You bring back the marked car — it has to be towed, not lifted — and the yard strips it over time, even while you are offline, paying you when you next log in. Tow work also lifts the yard's reputation, which raises the safe's daily income for a while.

    Contracts and jobs1–4 players

Weekly-rotating robbery contracts — The Duggan, Gangbanger, Cargo Ship, Podium and McTony Robberies — that each end with stealing a target car.

  • Planning Work and Robbery Tasks

    Setup

Freemode preparation jobs started from blips on the map by calling Jamal; one job in each set can be skipped.

  • Ship, salvage or claim

    Selling

After the finale, ship the car from Terminal to Yusuf, break it down at the yard, or keep it where that week allows.

  • Tow Truck Service

    Service work1 players

Tow an abandoned car back to the yard to be salvaged over time; each job also builds the yard's reputation.

  • Passive safe income

    Passive income

Money paid into the yard's safe every day, more of it when reputation is high.

Playing alone

Tow jobs are for one player only, and the robberies can be started alone or with up to three others.

Holding several stolen cars and selling them together needs enough associates or bodyguards to drive them all at once, so stacking sales is easier in a group.

Figures

Only values two independent checks agree on. Payouts can change with updates, bonuses, lobby and difficulty.

Where you can buy it

Prices are shown only where confirmed. A cheaper site is not automatically a worse one: where your missions send you matters too.

There are five yards: Paleto Bay, Sandy Shores, Murrieta Heights, Strawberry and La Puerta. Paleto Bay is the cheapest and the farthest from the city; La Puerta costs the most.

Tow jobs are picked from places within range of where you start one, so where your yard sits shapes where you will be driving.

Risks and common mistakes

Risks

Crash damage on the way to the docks lowers what Yusuf pays for a shipped car; salvaging avoids that risk at a lower price.

A tow job can bring the car's owner or the police after you on the way back, and lifting the car with a helicopter fails the job.

Common mistakes

  • Driving a stolen car carelessly to the docks: the shipping price is a ceiling, and every crash takes something off it.
  • Stacking several stolen cars with no one to help drive them, which leaves them unsold until a crew is available.
  • Skipping the tow truck upgrade, without which the Tow Truck Service and the reputation it builds are not available.

Good to know

Before you buy

  • A yard is bought on Maze Bank Foreclosures, from a choice of five, once Yusuf Amir has called; nothing else is required.
  • The robbery planning wall can only be used while registered as a CEO, VIP or MC President, in any kind of Free Mode session.

Setting up

  • Every robbery opens with a scope-out, continues with planning work and robbery tasks in any order, one of each optional, and closes with a finale in which a particular car is stolen.
  • The target cars, and the robbery each one uses, change with every event week, and each of the week's choices is worth more than the one before.
  • Calling Jamal cancels the robbery in progress at any point.

Selling

  • A stolen car can be shipped to Yusuf from the docks at Terminal for a lump sum, or salvaged at the yard for less; salvage pays once the work is done and is not reduced by crash damage.
  • The shipping price is the most a car can fetch: damage picked up on the drive lowers it.
  • Stolen cars can be held while further robberies are done, then sold together, provided enough associates or bodyguards are on hand to drive them all at the same time.

What it unlocks

  • In some weeks a target car is marked as claimable, and it can then be kept as a personal vehicle, with its special plates, for a small fee.
  • The Tow Truck Service is unavailable until one of the two tow truck options has been bought for the yard.
  • Finishing each robbery for the first time puts a trophy in the yard's recreation space.

Safe income

  • Tow work raises the yard's reputation, a meter much like Nightclub popularity: the higher it is, the more the safe earns each day, up to a cap, and the lift from tow work is temporary.

Production

  • Towed cars carry on being salvaged while the player is offline, and the money arrives at the next login.
  • A tow job begins from the truck in the yard. Only the marked car counts, it must come back on the tow hook rather than by air, and its owner or a wanted level may have to be dealt with on the return.

Links to other businesses

  • Owners of a Document Forgery Office pay a lower fee to claim an eligible robbery car, and finishing a salvage can make a customer car waiting at an Auto Shop disappear.
