Auto Shops

What the Auto Shop is

The Auto Shop is a working modification garage with a robbery crew upstairs. You earn from it by servicing customer cars and by playing its jobs, not by producing stock.

Sessanta is your partner and chief mechanic, and Kenny Dixon Jr. advertises the shop and keeps the Contracts board up to date.

What you get

  • A mod shop of your own, where you pay a little less for modifications, get crew and classic paint and emblems free, and have every locked modification opened up. Other players can use it without the discount, and your organisation or club, friends and crew get free repairs.
  • A garage for your own cars, a customer-car service that pays on delivery, a board of robbery Contracts, and the Exotic Exports list once your first Contract is done.
  • A space for one arcade cabinet, placed from the Interaction Menu while you are inside.

Before you buy

What you need

  • Visit the LS Car Meet before buying; the shops only go on sale once you have been there. Car Meet membership is not needed in advance and can be added to the purchase.
  • Buying the shop, starting its setup and taking Contracts all need you to be registered as a VIP, CEO or MC President. The session does not have to be public.

How to start

Visit the LS Car Meet, then buy a shop from Maze Bank Foreclosures while registered as a VIP, CEO or MC President.

Play the setup mission, which recovers Sessanta's impounded Tailgater S from the police, then look at the Contracts board. You do not have to start a Contract, but the shop is not fully working until you have checked the board. Any style and tint you chose are fitted once setup is finished.

How it runs and makes money

Customer cars arrive on a timer and wait on the lift. You pay the service cost up front, fit the modifications the customer asked for, and deliver the car yourself or send staff; the cost comes back with your profit on delivery.

Fitting only what was asked for earns no bonus. Extra modifications the customer likes add to the payment, and ones they dislike take the same amount away. Damage picked up on the way is deducted.

Contracts are picked from the job board. Each one has planning work in freemode and then a finale, and only Tuner-class cars may be used in the finales; Sessanta offers the Tailgater S to anyone without one.

Exotic Exports opens after your first Contract: find the listed cars around the map, steal them and deliver them to Sessanta's contact at the docks.

  • Setup: Impounded Car

    Setup

Recover Sessanta's impounded Tailgater S from the police and bring it back to the shop.

  • Auto Shop Service

    Service work1 players

Modify a customer's car to their order and deliver it for a payment and a satisfaction bonus; staff can make the delivery instead.

  • Contracts

    Contracts and jobs1–4 players

Robbery jobs with heist-style planning work and a finale, chosen from a board that rotates its offers.

  • Exotic Exports

    Other1–4 players

Track down the cars on the shop's list, steal them and deliver them to the docks.

Playing alone

Customer deliveries are one-player jobs, and Contracts and Exotic Exports take up to four players but can be done alone.

Raising your LS Car Meet reputation unlocks paid support you can call in during Contract finales from the Interaction Menu.

Upgrades

Ordered by our rule: upgrades that raise production or value first, then ones some content needs, then the rest.

  • Car Lift

    Buy first

A second lift: two customer cars can be in the shop at once, and the wait for the next customer is shorter.

    Faster production · Storage

    $650,000

  • Staff

    Depends how you play

Staff who can deliver finished customer cars for you. They take their time and can damage the car, which lowers the payment.

    Staff · Convenience

First staff member: $385,000 · Second staff member: $385,000

  • Personal Quarters

    Depends how you play

A room on the mezzanine with a bed, wardrobe and weapon locker; without it the space is a storeroom.

    Convenience

    $340,000

Where you can buy it

Prices are shown only where confirmed. A cheaper site is not automatically a worse one: where your missions send you matters too.

There are five shops: Mission Row, Strawberry, Rancho, Burton and La Mesa. Mission Row costs the least and La Mesa the most, with the other three in between; every site has the same garage space.

Risks and common mistakes

Risks

Other players are not told when you are delivering a customer car, but anyone who destroys it gets a wanted level. A destroyed car returns to the shop with its modifications intact, and changing session does the same.

Other players can walk into your shop unless you restrict access from the Interaction Menu.

Selling a vehicle at a Salvage Yard has been known to make a waiting customer car vanish, or to put the shop back to its setup state.

Common mistakes

  • Fitting only the required modifications: the satisfaction bonus comes from extras the customer likes.
  • Choosing a non-Tuner car for a Contract finale, which the game will not accept.
  • Leaving a serviced car waiting when it is also on the Exotic Exports list: it cannot be delivered until that export is done.

Good to know

Before you buy

  • The shops can only be bought after visiting the LS Car Meet; Car Meet membership is not needed first.
  • You need to be registered as a VIP, CEO or MC President to buy the shop and run its setup, though not in a public session.
  • Contract finales only accept Tuner-class cars; Sessanta's Tailgater S is offered to anyone without one.

Setting up

  • Setup is a single mission that recovers Sessanta's Tailgater S; the shop is fully working once you have also looked at the Contracts board.
  • The style and tint you choose are only fitted after setup is complete.
  • Each Contract has planning work in freemode and a finale; Sessanta can be phoned to cancel the active one, and KDJ texts you when the board refreshes.

Production

  • Customer cars arrive on a timer; you pay a service cost up front, fit the requested modifications and deliver the car, and the cost is repaid with the profit.
  • When the wait for a customer runs out there is an even chance a car turns up, and it only arrives while you are outside the shop and not on a mission or activity.

Storage

  • A customer car stays in the shop across sessions until you deal with it.

Selling

  • Fitting only the requested modifications earns no bonus; extras the customer likes raise the payment and extras they dislike lower it by the same amount.
  • Damage on the way to the customer is deducted; a destroyed car reappears at the shop without needing its modifications again, and changing session does the same.
  • You can buy a customer car for yourself, and its price includes the modifications already fitted.

Playing alone

  • Customer deliveries are one-player jobs; other players are not alerted, and anyone who destroys the car gets a wanted level.
  • Contracts take up to four players and can be run alone.

What it unlocks

  • In your own shop modifications cost a little less, crew and classic paint and emblems are free, and locked modifications are opened up.
  • Raising your LS Car Meet reputation unlocks paid support abilities, called in from the Interaction Menu during Contract finales.
  • Exotic Exports opens after your first Contract: the listed cars are found around the map, stolen and delivered to Sessanta's contact at the docks.
  • One arcade cabinet can be placed in the shop from the Interaction Menu while you are inside.

Links to other businesses

  • A serviced customer car that is also on the current Exotic Exports list cannot be delivered until that export is done.
  • Selling a fully salvaged vehicle at a Salvage Yard can make a customer car waiting in the shop disappear, or return the shop to its setup state.

  • MC Clubhouse — A Clubhouse offers a customer service for motorcycles that works like the shop's service for cars.
