Carl reaches the family house on Grove Street, finds it empty and stands in his mother's kitchen for the first time in five years. Somebody comes through the door behind him and the two men have each other at gunpoint before either recognises the other: it is Melvin Harris, who nobody has called anything but Big Smoke since they were children.
The scene is the reunion and the condolence, and it ends with the pair leaving for the cemetery to meet Sweet and Kendl. There is no gameplay in it at all — the mission listing says so — and it is here as a record because the campaign counts it and because it is where the story's central friendship is established, several dozen missions before it turns out to have been something else.
