Catalina wants half a million dollars delivered to a mansion in Cedar Grove and has Maria to trade for it. She takes the money, does not hand Maria over, and leaves in a helicopter — which is the third time she has done something like this to Claude and the last.
The chase ends at the Cochrane Dam with a rocket launcher and a helicopter directly overhead. It is the only mission in GTA III that begins in Shoreside Vale, and the only one where the police stop existing entirely.
The two listings disagree about whether there is a clock on the pursuit, so nothing here asserts one. What both establish is that there is no wanted level at all during this mission, which makes the approach to the dam a straight fight rather than a fight with police in it.
On foot the dam interior supplies weapons including a sniper rifle and cover from the Cartel positions. The bulletproof Patriot from Ray's lock-up drives most of the same route with far less exposure, at the cost of being vulnerable to the rockets coming from the helicopter.
The remaining Cartel men are on top of the dam and there is a rocket launcher up there for the helicopter.
Bringing the helicopter down while it is close to Claude and Maria risks killing them in the explosion. The shot is taken with distance between them, which is the single thing this mission asks a player to be patient about.

Left for dead by his partner during a bank job and freed from a prison transport by an explosion he had nothing to do with. Says nothing at all for the length of the story and works his way through every organisation in Liberty City regardless.
