Asuka Kasen's price for the boat that got Claude off Portland is Salvatore Leone's life. It is the mission that makes the second act possible and the mission that makes Portland unsafe for the rest of the game.
Salvatore leaves Luigi's at a predictable hour with predictable company, which gives a player four entirely different ways to do this and no wrong one.
Everything about this mission is easier with a weapon that reaches, and the crossing back to Portland is the last quiet moment in it.
Waiting in view of Luigi's gets Claude spotted by the Mafia, which turns a stake-out into a running fight before Salvatore has even come out.
The published approaches are a drive-by as he leaves, going in through the mansion garage, taking the club's back exit, or a rifle from a rooftop overlooking the door. The rooftop is the one that keeps the most distance between Claude and the bodyguards.
From here the Leone family carry shotguns and will use them on sight, and a couple of shots will destroy a car. Any Portland business left unfinished is best finished before this mission, not after.

Left for dead by his partner during a bank job and freed from a prison transport by an explosion he had nothing to do with. Says nothing at all for the length of the story and works his way through every organisation in Liberty City regardless.
