GTA IIIStaunton Island

Paparazzi Purge

Mission 33 of 67Story mission

01/03

Briefing

A reporter has been taking photographs of the Yakuza from a boat, on the reasonable assumption that nobody would follow him out onto the water. Asuka leaves a note rather than meeting in person, and the answer to the reporter is a police launch with guns on it.

It is the game's first mission fought entirely at sea, and it ends on a dock because the reporter runs out of water before he runs out of nerve.

02/03

Objectives

  1. Steal the police boat
  2. Destroy the reporter's boat
03/03

Walkthrough

  1. Take a Predator

The police boat is the point: it is the only thing on the water with mounted guns, and the chase is not winnable in an ordinary boat.

  2. Run him down across the bay

The reporter runs rather than fights, and letting him get away fails the mission. Sustained fire from the Predator is what stops him.

  3. Finish it on the dock if he lands

If he beaches the boat the job finishes on foot, which is quicker than trying to sink an empty hull.

  • Gives the job

Asuka Kasen, as they appear in GTA III.

The Yakuza's head in Liberty City, colder and considerably more capable than her brother, and the employer Claude does his Staunton Island work for.
