Everything confirmed about Grand Theft Auto VI

The date, the platforms, the setting, the cast and the story so far — every detail Rockstar has actually confirmed about Grand Theft Auto VI, and an honest account of what they have not.

Grand Theft Auto VI has been in public view since December 2023 and the confirmed record is still short enough to read in one sitting. Almost everything else written about the game is inference from what Rockstar has shown. This is the part that is not.

When it arrives

That date has moved before, and Rockstar has been unusually plain about it each time. An earlier 2025 window became 26 May 2026, and 26 May 2026 became November. The current date has held since the announcement and pre-orders are already open against it.

What you need to play it

This is the shortest section and the one most often reported incorrectly. The platforms above are the announcement in full. Nothing has been said about a PC release, and the absence of an announcement is not a hidden confirmation of one.

Where it takes place

Vice City is the return people reacted to, but the state around it is the more interesting confirmation. The regions Rockstar has named reach well past the city limits — a structure closer to Grand Theft Auto V's county than to the original Vice City's islands.

Who it is about

the darkest side of the sunniest place in America
Rockstar Games

Rockstar publishes a profile for every one of them, and none is a bystander. The company the leads keep divides cleanly between the city and the water — clubs, studios and property in Vice City, boats and the work that moves through them down in the Keys.

What is not confirmed

Nothing about how the game plays. There is no confirmed information on mission structure, on how the leads are handled, on map scale, on progression, or on an online component. Claims on all of those circulate widely; none of them originate with Rockstar.
