GTA: San AndreasThe Countryside

Small Town Bank

Mission 40 of 105Story mission

01/03

Briefing

The bank at Palomino Creek is the largest of Catalina's four targets and pays $10,000, which is more than the other three together. Carl's job inside is the staff: keep them covered, keep their hands up, and keep the alarm from being set off.

The alarm goes anyway. What follows is ATMs smashed for whatever else can be taken, a fight out through the back, a pair of stolen police bikes, and a rescue when Catalina puts hers into the scenery at Montgomery.

Objectives

  1. Point your gun at the staff to keep them scared and under control
  2. Don't let them put their hands down or they may set off an alarm
  3. Follow Catalina
  4. Catalina's surrounded by cops — rescue her and get back to the hideout

Walkthrough

  1. Covering the room

The staff are the whole of the first phase and they cannot be held by standing still: hands go down as soon as the gun is off them, so the aim has to move around the room continuously.

  2. Out the back

The alarm is scripted rather than avoidable. The exit is through the rear into an alley the police are already in, and the ATMs on the way are optional money rather than an objective.

  3. Montgomery

The chase is on police bikes and it ends with Catalina down and surrounded. She is the mission from that point — clearing the officers around her and getting her back to Fern Ridge is what banks the $10,000.

Where this mission leads

Who this mission brings together, and the ground it covers.

  • Playable

Carl Johnson, as they appear in GTA: San Andreas.

Home in Los Santos after five years in Liberty City for his mother's funeral, and stopped by the same two police officers who drove him out. Rebuilding the family's standing turns into rebuilding most of the state's.

  • Gives the job

Catalina, as they appear in GTA: San Andreas.

Shoots her partner on the steps of the bank they have just robbed and spends the rest of GTA III trading up through Liberty City's organisations. San Andreas, set five years earlier, shows her doing the same thing to somebody else.
