Mission 41 of 90Story mission
The bank job. Four men — Niko, Packie, Derrick and Michael Keane — walk into the Bank of Liberty on a Chinatown street corner, blow the vault, and walk out into the longest sustained fight in the game.
There are no preparation jobs and no choice of approach: it is one very long mission that starts as a robbery and becomes a fighting retreat down a street, through a subway station and along a live railway tunnel with the LCPD behind it.
The take is $250,000 and the mission opens Alderney, which makes it the structural centre of the campaign as well as its loudest hour.
A suit with a tie and decent shoes is required, and the bank is only open between six in the morning and seven at night. Go in with full armour, grenades, a rocket launcher and an SMG — there is no opportunity to shop in the middle of this. A four-door car is needed at the start and another at the end.
The robbery itself runs on rails. The money is collected into bags, and the only thing worth noticing is the argument between Packie and Derrick, which is the strand's whole relationship in ninety seconds.
Take cover in the exit itself, between the two doors, rather than stepping into the street. From there the police outside can be worked through — grenades on the cars, or a round into a fuel tank, take out everybody clustered around them.
Follow the brothers into the alley and clear the officers and NOOSE agents blocking it. Destroying the police car there helps a great deal, and there is body armour beside it worth collecting.
Two officers wait at the second corner and a great many more beyond them, with NOOSE coming down the stairs behind. There is a health package on the concourse.
The tracks have to be crossed, and the trains are live — go over once one has passed rather than in front of one. More agents wait on the far side, and there is a first aid kit on the way up.
The exit puts Niko on the street beside a Huntley Sport. Wait for the others to get in, then drive to Packie's mother's house in Meadows Park — the wanted level has to be gone by the time it arrives, and a Pay 'n' Spray will do it.
Who this mission brings together, and the ground it covers.
