GTA IV: The Lost and Damned

Shifting Weight

Mission 17 of 22Story mission

01/03

Briefing

The cocaine sale Elizabeta has set up is surrounded before it starts, and Johnny spends most of this mission as a passenger — riding pillion behind Malc with an assault shotgun and no reload, shooting backwards at everything Liberty City can put behind a motorcycle.

It is the episode's set piece: a chase that goes through a car showroom, under a helicopter and out the other side of a plate-glass window, and ends with Elizabeta being told on the phone that her deal is gone.

Walkthrough

  1. Ride pillion and keep firing

Once the police close in Johnny is on the back of Malc's bike for the duration. The assault shotgun he is holding does not run out, so there is no reason to stop shooting at the cars behind. Armour before starting is worth having.

  2. Deal with the helicopter

A police helicopter joins partway through and the men firing from its doors are the threat rather than the aircraft. Shooting them off is what clears it.

  3. Out through the showroom

The chase runs into a Grotti dealership and closes the way in behind it. The window is the way out, and the last of the pursuit ends under a highway bridge when the final car finds a support column.

  4. Checkpointed at the surround

Dying after the point where the police close in restarts the mission from there rather than from the beginning, which makes the long chase worth attempting aggressively.
