Who's who in Leonida: the confirmed cast
Everyone Rockstar has named for Grand Theft Auto VI, how they divide between the Keys and the city, and what that split already suggests about the shape of the story.
Rockstar has published profiles for eight characters. That is a small cast list by the standards of a Grand Theft Auto game and a revealing one, because the eight are not a random selection — they cluster into two groups that barely touch.
The leads
Lucia is the character the first trailer opened on, and the one Rockstar has given the clearest arc. She learned to fight early, defending her family is what put her inside the Leonida Penitentiary, and she comes out of it with a plan rather than a grudge. The detail that carries the most weight is her mother's ambition, held since the family's Liberty City days.
Jason is the softer-drawn of the two so far. He came up around people working the edges of the law, spent time in the Army, and has ended up in the Keys doing work for the drug runners who operate there. He is presented as somebody drifting rather than climbing, which makes him the more likely of the pair to be pulled.
Jason's side: the Keys
Three of the six supporting characters sit around Jason, and all three are anchored to the same stretch of water.
- Brian — a survivor of the Keys smuggling era, still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife Lori. Jason lives rent-free on one of his properties and pays for it in favours.
- Cal — Jason's friend, another of Brian's associates, and the one character who wants nothing to happen. He listens to Coast Guard traffic from home and is content there.
- Raul — a career bank robber who recruits on charm and raises the stakes with every job he plans.
The Vice City side: the money
The other three sit in the city, and none of them is a street criminal in the way the Keys group is. They are in business.
- Boobie — a Vice City name who converted a reputation into property, a club and a recording studio, and who behaves accordingly.
- Dre'Quan — a promoter rather than an enforcer, who dealt to get by while music was always the actual plan.
- Real Dimez — Bae-Luxe and Roxy, friends since school, who turned a sideline robbing dealers into an audience.
What the split suggests
Two clusters, two geographies, and a conspiracy Rockstar says runs across the state. The obvious reading is that the story's job is to collide them — a smuggling economy at the bottom of the map and a music and property economy in the city, with Jason and Lucia as the route between.
