The last preparation needs a helicopter with a winch and an armoured van, and both are inside the K.A.C.C. military fuel depot. The gates open for a military vehicle, which is the way in.
Two gunships are sent to intercept and have to be shot down from a gun emplacement on the ground before the Leviathan can leave. Then the van is lifted out on the winch and flown to the aircraft graveyard.
The depot opens for a military vehicle rather than for Carl, so the mission starts with finding one. Arriving in anything else means fighting through a perimeter that does not need to be fought.
The two Hunters are dealt with from the fixed gun on the ground, which the objective names. Trying to outfly them in the Leviathan is the version of this that does not work — the transport is not a gunship.
The van on the winch changes how the Leviathan handles and swings under it. Fly the desert leg slowly and level, and set up the landing at the graveyard well before reaching the marker.
