GTA: San AndreasThe Desert

Green Goo

Mission 78 of 105Story mission

01/04

Briefing

The Truth's last request is a jar. A train is moving whatever else came out of Area 69 across the desert, and Carl goes after it with the jetpack — the only mission in the game flown on one.

The crates on the flatbeds have to be opened one at a time until the right one is found, which the mission narrates as it goes. It pays $20,000 and turns Verdant Meadows into an asset, and it is the end of the desert.

Objectives

  1. Fly the jetpack to the train and steal whatever they least want you to get
  2. Shoot the crates on the train to find the jar of green goo
  3. The crate is empty — try another
  4. The crate is empty — try another
  5. That's the right one — grab the jar of green goo
  6. Take it to The Truth

Walkthrough

  1. Flying the jetpack over a moving train

The jetpack hovers, which is what makes this workable: match the train's speed above it rather than chasing along beside. The military escort is on the ground and the flatbeds are not.

  2. Crate by crate

The crates are opened by shooting them and the right one is found by elimination — the mission calls each empty one as it happens. There is no way to identify it in advance, so the pace is set by how steadily the jetpack can be held.

  3. Delivering it

The jar has to reach The Truth, and Carl keeps the jetpack afterwards. It is the last thing the two of them do together until Los Santos.

  • Playable

Carl Johnson, as they appear in GTA: San Andreas.

Home in Los Santos after five years in Liberty City for his mother's funeral, and stopped by the same two police officers who drove him out. Rebuilding the family's standing turns into rebuilding most of the state's.

  • Gives the job

The Truth, as they appear in GTA: San Andreas.

A Flint County grower with a camper van, a conspiracy for every occasion and rather better government contacts than any of them should imply.
